The film presented the poems, short stories, and humor of
Jim Northrup. Northrup is a Native American of Anishinaabe
descent from the Fond Du Lac Reservation in northern Minnesota.
This film tracks several events in the life of Native Americans.
Some of the events like: wild rice collection, the sugarbush
(collecting and rendering tree sap), and basket making Other
events like: a moose hunt, spear fishing, and other general
issues as seen through humor, from Northrup's point of view
as a Native American. The movie trailer expresses a theme
touched on by Northrup, but does not capture the entire meaning
of the short film. In future it would be beneficial to fully
examine the short film to arrive at a more representative
trailer.
The short film was imported into a new Adobe Premier 6.0
file and edited into a movie trailer. This was done rather
simply. Premier allows for cutting and pasting of video, audio,
or both into new locations. Along with a standard video/audio
display (scene by scene) as one would watch a film; the video
and audio are represented lineally in two tracks that express
the coarse of the film. The software also allows for transitions
to be inserted between spliced bits to allow for a smooth
change between edited segments. When all the segments were
put together the whole trailer is rendered into one file.
When the trailer was completed it was exported in various
bandwidths to allow for different Internet connection speeds.
The various bandwidths listed above are accessed through links
created on this page that allow the user to view the trailer.
